Wiring & Installation of GFCI Outlets in Strathroy, London and Surrounding Areas

Every Kitchen and Bathroom should have a GFCI outlet. Electricity and water don’t mix, so  GFCI outlets are a must to protect against shock. The GFCI outlet is designed to cut off power  when water is detected in the outlet, preventing harm. That is why it is important to install GFCI  outlets in the areas where water is frequently present.

Having a problem with the receptacle in your bathroom, kitchen, or backyard? It could be an old GFCI that is causing your issues.

To keep your outlets properly functioning, you should:

  • To ensure your GFCI receptacle is working correctly you should test it monthly by pressing the  “test” and “reset” button.
  • When the “test” button is pressed there should be no power at the  outlet. When pressing the “reset” button, power should return.
  • If the outlet is working correctly,  there should be no issues.

If you have any questions or concerns about your GFCI outlets, we are happy to help.

GFCI Outlet Installation done by Professionals

As for the replacement GFCI outlets, the wiring must be installed in a junction box, and the box in turn must be properly secured to the wall in a way that eases its replacement later. Our ESA–licensed electricians will take care of all the work — from the wiring to the circuit testing, all using necessary materials that fulfill the Electric Code of Canada.

The GFCI installaton services we provide are as follows:

  • Installation of new power outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, garages and basements
  • Outdoor GFCI power outlets for pools, patios and hot tubs
  • GFCI replacement and inspection services
  • Provision of dedicated circuit wiring for high demand appliances
  • ESA compliant testing and labeling

In Mount Brydges, we recently completed a project where we updated all kitchen outlets in a 1970s bungalow and replaced them with new GFCI type receptacles, increasing safety and fulfilling insurance requirements.

🔌 GFCI Replacement & Maintenance

Just like any device, GFCI outlets do have a lifespan and therefore wear out over time.

If your outlets are tripping more than usual, failing a test, or feel loose, it could be time for a replacement.

Our certified electricians are able to assess, replace, and rewire circuits with ease, ensuring your space is free from electrical hazards as it is compliant.

  • Replacement may be necessary if, after testing, you notice the outlet does not reset,
  • Nuisance tripping is common,
  • Discoloration or heat marks around the faceplate
  • Inconsistent power to nearby outlets  or
  • Frequent disconnections.

⚙️ GFCI Breaker Wiring & Upgrades

In addition to individual outlets, we mount GFCI breakers straight onto your electrical panel for whole circuit protection.

These breakers are perfect for circuits with several outlets, pools, or outdoor lighting systems, providing another safety feature for your home.

Our team makes sure every single breaker is tested, grounded, and Certified by the ESA.

🧠 GFCI Safety Tips to Prevent Electrical Shock

GFCI protection is only effective when used with proper safety techniques.

To avoid unnecessary tripping, or to avoid causing electrical interference, please adhere to the following:

  • Never plug refrigerators or freezers into GFCI outlets. They can cause false trips.
  • GFCIs are not to be used with 240V appliances, such as stoves or dryers.
  • Do not operate several high-heat appliances, such as a toaster, dryer, or iron, on a single circuit.

All the above practices should be observed to maintain the GFCI system intact for years to come.

💡 Upgrade to GFCI Outlets for Complete Protection

If there are still conventional outlets in the restrooms, kitchens, or even the basement, then now is the time to do a safety upgrade.

Our team of electricians will carry out inspections of your property, note the areas of installation, and then rest the receptacles while utilizing high grade materials that exceed the minimum requirements of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
